Works starts on VW suppliers’ park
Construction work at the new suppliers’ park for Volkswagen’s assembly plant in Vorst, Brussels, has started, De Standaard newspaper reports.
The seven-hectare site was previously owned by the Brussels transport authority. Suppliers moving in will include dashboard and bumper manufacturers and some 1,000 people, including 400 former Volkswagen workers, will be employed there.
The Vorst plant has been producing the Volkswagen Golf, along with a number of other models, since 1960, with production of the Golf V series beginning in 2003. Other cars produced at Vorst over the years have included the Passat, Toledo, Leon and Lupo.
