The laying of a the first foundation stone has marked an official start to the building of the new Flanders’ Drive Engineering and Testing Center close to the Ford Proving Track at Lommel, Flanders.

The 12.5 million euro investment will create a “hyper-modern” environment for product development in the automotive field and will be available to all Flemish automotive suppliers. It is scheduled to commence operations at the beginning of next year.

The center will include 3,000 square meters of laboratory space and some 800 square meters for offices. It has been funded by European, Flemish and local government sources as well as business.
