As the world’s first IATA CEIV Pharma-certified airport company, Brussels Airport boasts dedicated infrastructure for the transport and handling of products requiring an unbroken cold chain, such as pharmaceutical and biotech products. “As a result of this certification, higher volumes of pharmaceuticals are now being transported via our airport and partners,” said Steven Polmans, Head of Cargo at Brussels Airport Company.

Beyond speed

“Thanks to various initiatives at both Brussels Airport and other industry stakeholders,” Polmans continued, “speed is no longer the only advantage of air transport when it comes to pharmaceuticals. Today, it offers a legion of benefits in terms of quality, consistency and – above all – transparency.”

Global cargo partner

Highlighting its pioneering role in pharmaceuticals air transport, Brussels Airport will be presenting at the upcoming FlyPharma Conference. “Yet, we will not only focus on the pharmaceutical industry”, Polmans commented. “We will also explain the role we wish to play as an airport to facilitate the cargo process and act as partner for the global cargo industry as a whole.”
