Tropicana plans new fruit-juice facility at Zeebrugge
Zein Abdalla, President of Tropicana Europe, says the European consumer is “crazy” about the company’s premium fruit juices. “This investment illustrates the long-term belief Tropicana has in the European market. Our new high-tech installation will ensure that we can continue to produce what the client wants: top-quality and great-tasting fruit juices.”
The new facility will be built alongside Tropicana’s existing cold store and will offer 100 new jobs, as well as management, scientific and technical roles. The project will begin immediately and will be fully operational by Spring of 2003. Tropicana’s existing partner Sea-Invest will provide logistics support for the new facility.
Tropicana, owned by PepsiCo Beverages International, chose Zeebrugge for its base because of the port’s outstanding strategic location as a crossroads for distribution in Europe. “The Zeebrugge European Food Centre is beautifully located with top facilities, and motivated and well-trained personnel,” Zein Abdalla says.
In addition to its facilities at Zeebrugge, Tropicana Europe also has its European headquarters in Brussels.
