The new business will undertake sales, service and development of Stora Enso DBS Powered by Xeikon, a turnkey disc packaging solution for producers such as the music, software, movie and games industries as an alternative to plastic packaging. Stora Enso has a majority shareholding in Stora Enso Digital Solutions, which is based in Lier, Belgium.

DBS (Discbox Slider) is Stora Enso's cost-effective paperboard packaging for CDs and DVDs. Stora Enso DBS Powered by Xeikon is an automated on-demand production line that covers the processes of printing, converting and filling DBS packs. It is highly efficient for short runs and personalized packages, and so ideal for increasingly fragmented markets such as the music business, the company says.

Xeikon International is a leading supplier of digital color printing solutions for professional applications. It is a subsidiary of Punch International, which is listed on the Brussels Euronext stock exchange and is also part of the NextPrime index.

Ari Lehikoinen has been appointed Managing Director of Stora Enso Digital Solutions. Currently based in Belgium, he was previously employed at Stora Enso's InnoCentre packaging research and development unit in Finland.
