Schenker builds leading-edge logistics facility

Schenker, a leading logistics provider in Flanders, is building a new high-technology logistics center at Willebroek near Antwerp, according to De Tijd newspaper.

It is expected that the 52,000 square meter facility will open in September and employ an initial workforce of around 100, with the number later rising to 400.

Schenker, a subsidiary of the German company Bahn, will use the new facility for the handling and distribution of food products for clients including Nestlé, Douwe Egberts, Heinz, Oetker, PAB, General Biscuits, Delacre, Reckitt Benckiser and Haribo. The firm’s Belgian headquarters are in Antwerp and its facilities in Flanders are based in Mechelen, Waregem, Zaventem en Antwerp.
