Renewable energy firms form federation

Renewable energy companies and organizations, including equipment producers and designers, have formed a regional federation in Flanders to represent the rapidly growing industry, De Standaard newspaper reports.

The federation, to be known as “Generaties”, has 21 members to date, with the first 10 of these employing some 1,100 people and having a combined annual turnover of 379 million euro. Ten years ago the same companies had a combined turnover of 42 million euro, reflecting the rapid growth in worldwide demand for renewable energy.

Energy knowledge centers at various universities have also joined the new federation, which has been part-funded by IWT, the Institute for the Promotion of Innovation by Science and Technology in Flanders.
