Q-Biologicals (Flanders) acquired by Amatsigroup (France)
Amatsigroup, a French provider of pharmaceutical development services, has acquired Q-Biologicals. This spin-off of Flanders’ VIB life sciences institute offers process development and bio-manufacturing services, supporting Amatsigroup’s expansion plans.
Specialist in pharmaceutical development
Q-Biologicals specializes in bio-products for numerous applications in therapeutics, vaccines and diagnostics. Some examples include recombinant proteins, antibodies, viruses and live cells. 20 employees strong, the VIB spin-off has already completed an impressive 75 R&D projects since it was established in 2011, and generated a turnover of EUR 4 million in 2015.
Backing expansion plans
By acquiring Q-Biologicals, Amatsigroup aims to drive its growth and international expansion strategy. The French company will be leveraging its new subsidiary’s strengths as a platform to tap into the synthetic biology applications market. Additionally, thanks to the acquisition, Amatsigroup now boasts an integrated and innovative offering for the development of new biological medicines.
