The new paint line is 144 meters long, 58 meters wide and 26 meters high, the new coating line is capable of spraying truck cabins with over 3,000 different colors. As such, it can handle no fewer than 300 cabins per day, or 70,000 per year. This more than doubles the capacity of DAF Trucks’ existing paint shop.

The new factory is one of the most modern of its kind around the world and showcases various advanced features. To give just one example, the mechanism in the coating line’s lacquer robots can run at a speed of 50,000 revolutions per minute, to deliver the highest coating quality for the lowest possible consumption of paint.
In addition to quality and efficiency, sustainability was an important focus during the development of the new line as well. A carbon emissions reduction of 50% was achieved through the use of advanced systems. Furthermore, the air leaving the spraying booths is cleaned, and the released heat is recovered and reused for the heating of the pre-treatment process baths.
“This major investment continues our strong tradition of setting industry standards in terms of product quality, customer service and environmental awareness,” explains Mark Pigott, executive chairman of American parent company Paccar. “Over the past 15 years, Paccar and DAF have invested more than EUR 600 million in the Flanders-based factory. We look forward to a very bright future in the region.”
Paccar and DAF Trucks are currently one of the biggest employers in Flanders, employing over 2,600 people.
