The newly established Ostend Science Park was founded by POM, the development agency of West Flanders, the Port of Ostend and Ghent University, one of Flanders’ universities. The park aims to appeal to companies that are active in the blue economy. Even before development started, e-BO Enterprises, a Flanders-based ICT company, jumped on board. Now, independent offshore survey company GEOxyz has also chosen Ostend Science Park as its home base.

Ostend Science Park is an attractive ‘blue economy’ hotspot
The arrival of GEOxyz shows the added value of Ostend Science Park in the blue economy.
The science park is strategically located in the Port of Ostend, a thriving hub for companies active in circular and sustainable industry. To ensure new future activities, the existing site will be cleared and leveled while the surrounding area receives a makeover. The works include an expansion of the road infrastructure and parking facilities, as well as the addition of high-quality bicycle storage. There will also be an extensive green space on the site to reinforce the campus feel of the science park.
The expansion works will be completed by the end of 2021. Meanwhile, the science park continues its search for other blue economy companies, both local and international, that want to join this high-tech knowledge hub operating at the conjunction of science, business and government.
Thanks to the availability of real-life test infrastructure, the Ostend Science Park offers the perfect breeding ground and a suitable ecosystem to further develop marine and maritime business.
Moreover, companies will also benefit from the favorable evolutions of the blue economy in the Ostend area.
