The ranking highlights that Belgium offers the highest level of pre-school participation, good teachers, and a broad and flexible higher education system. In addition, the country is one of only six EU member states to meet the benchmark performance in at least seven out of ten targets set by the OECD for its report. As such, Belgium ranks 2nd within the European Union.

OECD: “Belgium has the 3rd best education system”
The report indicates that Belgium excels at reaching the OECD’s sustainable development targets, including literacy and numeracy goals, as well as equal access to higher education. These benchmarks are part of the organization’s sustainable development mission towards “inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all”.
With Dutch as its official language, Flanders (Dutch: Vlaanderen) is the northern region of Belgium. The capital of both Belgium and Flanders is Brussels.
