Nipro (Japan) invests in European HQ in Mechelen (Flanders)
At the heart of Europe
Headquartered in Osaka, Japan, Nipro Corporation generates a revenue of EUR 3 billion and employs 24,000 people worldwide. The recent EUR 25 million investment in Flanders will go towards the construction of a 7,000 m² headquarter that will offer employment for around 100 people. “The triple-A location of Mechelen, close to Brussels and in the heart of Europe, once again worked in our favor”, says Mayor of Mechelen Bart Somers. “This asset helped us win from other possible locations, such as Hamburg and Milan.”
As part of the Mechelen complex the Japan-based company will build the Institute for Medical Practice (IMEP), mirroring its center in Japan. This building will feature facilities for medical research and training. Somers: “Nursing staff and researchers will be invited to train in the use of Nipro Corporation’s new and groundbreaking medical applications.”
With construction already starting in the summer of 2016, Nipro has chosen the Flanders-based Group Bouwen as project developer. The new building is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.
