The new biotech incubator will accommodate ten to fifteen start-up biotech companies. The proximity of knowledge institutions with the necessary expertise and talent provides an excellent breeding ground for young start-ups.
Jo Bury, managing director of VIB: “This new biotech incubator and our new head office reflects VIB’s key values: innovation and collaboration. We look forward to moving into this new building together with young biotech companies. This building will give us the necessary capacity to give these start-ups every opportunity to develop their full potential in Flanders".
The Technology Park in Ghent – also known as Tech Lane Ghent – is an important hub in Flanders’ impressive biotech scene. The new incubator will occupy 10,000 m² on the site – right next to VIB, which in turn houses numerous spin-offs and start-ups in its 8,000 m² facility. A whopping 9,000 scientists work at the vibrant Technology Park, which grows at a rate of ten new companies annually.
