Since most temperature-sensitive products have very low to no stability outside their specified temperature ranges, direct access to Kuehne+Nagel’s airside facilities minimizes the risk of temperature fluctuations even further. The company’s new facility in Machelen, the Air Logistics Hub, has special areas and equipment for all types of temperature-sensitive products. It is centrally located at the Brucargo logistics site, on the outskirts of Brussels Airport. Consisting of 15,546 m² of storage space, the facility is fully connected to Kuehne+Nagel’s recently expanded Contract Logistics pharma warehousing facility in Geel (Flanders), as well as to the pan-European KN PharmaChain Road Logistics Network.
“Today, new pharmaceutical and healthcare products tend to be more temperature-sensitive and often have additional requirements for storage and transportation conditions,” says Yngve Ruud, member of the management board of Kuehne+Nagel and responsible for Air Logistics. “Such capabilities and facilities are not easily available globally. Our new hub ensures that we can handle these specific challenges while providing end-to-end visibility and regulatory compliance along each product’s entire logistics journey. As a result, our customers can focus on patients’ health and well-being, which is what matters most.”
