New incubator MIA-H boosts fashion technology in Flanders

The new incubator MIA-H fosters the growth of fashion technology in Flanders. Stimulating the industry creates exciting business opportunities for the future of fashion.

Stimulating fashion tech in Flanders

LRM, the investment society of Limburg (Flanders), joined forces with the city of Hasselt to create MIA-H. The new start-up incubator aims to be a physical meeting place for entrepreneurs and students interested in fashion technology. MIA-H provides working space, offices and a laboratory where everyone can freely experiment with fashion tech machines.

The future is now

Fashion tech has diverse applications: imagine a coat with a built-in heart monitor, or jewelry that changes color depending on your outfit. Fashion collective Jasna Rok, also in Flanders, is working on such innovations. Stijn Bijnens, CEO of LRM, is excited: “What’s so interesting about high-tech wearables is that they incorporate new technologies in accessories and garments of the future. In the digital age, the hybridization of fashion and ICT creates amazing business opportunities.”
