Katoen Natie takes over port logistics firm

Katoen Natie, the Antwerp-based worldwide harbor and logistics company, has taken over the Antwerp firm Werf & Vlasnatie for an undisclosed sum.

Over the past few years Werf & Vlasnatie has seen considerable growth mainly in its logistics work for major chemical companies and was looking to invest strongly in the coming years. It provides services such as storage and distribution, transport, handling, forwarding and customs and industrial sub-contracting at the port. The company has concessions of 105,000 square meters including 60,000 square meters of storage space at various sites within the port.

Katoen Natie is one of the world’s largest value-added logistics companies. It has some 6,000 employees, including 3,000 in Belgium. The company has six business units: petro-chemical, automotive & industrial, fine and specialty chemicals, projects & engineering, port operations and consumer goods. The company has business operations in Europe, Asia, and North and South America.
