IT software company Peripass eyes international success

Peripass is on an international onslaught. With its yard management software, the Flanders-based IT company from Ghent is helping logistics and production sites get a better overview of the arrival and departure time of trucks. By doing this, Peripass claims that its software can reduce waiting costs by 85%.

Technology to the rescue

The yard management software created by Peripass is becoming increasingly popular. “It is striking how many companies invest in making production lines and warehouses as efficient as possible but lack insights into what happens outside the walls of their facility,” says Leander Naessens, CEO of Peripass.

“By digitally registering trucks and making them wait in a parking lot, the logistics heart of industrial sites can make better choices,” the CEO continues. “Which trucks are there? Who is too early or is still expected? Which loads are ready? Which raw materials are needed?” Peripass is convinced that its software can reduce waiting costs by 85%.

A four star-rated parking lot for Alpro

Alpro – a plant-based food innovator in Flanders which operates under the auspices of Danone (France) – has been working with Peripass to build a digital bridge between what happens inside the production halls and outside in the parking lot. Previously, the food company had no buffer parking. This caused a waste of time, energy and money. Moreover, it triggered unsafe situations on the road. On average, about 130 trucks a day drive to and from the Flanders-based Alpro factory in Wevelgem.

With the Peripass software, drivers can sign in at a digital talking post. To register, they can choose from 14 different languages. After registration, the barrier opens and drivers receive a text message which indicates that preparations are ready. By the same method, Alpro can inform drivers when and where they are expected to load or unload their truck.

Getting ready to grow big time

Peripass is a Ghent-based IT company specializing in supply chain management. Founded in 2016, the young company is active at more than 120 logistics and production sites across Europe, with customers such as H.Essers, Vandemoortele, Bridgestone, Alpro and Saint-Gobin. Today, Peripass employs 39 people in Ghent, Amsterdam, Hamburg and Paris.

The company has invested heavily in recent years to fine-tune its product. In a first capital round it already raised EUR 7 million from the Van Overstraeten family. Peripass wants to close a new investment round before the end of 2022 to be able to capitalize on the expected growth in the supply chain management sector.
