Ineos (UK) acquires Antwerp-based Inesco power plant

With the takeover, billionaire Jim Ratcliffe and his multinational strengthen their position in Antwerp’s chemicals hub.

10 years of success

The plant was originally built in collaboration with German energy group RWE, a subsidiary of Essent. With an annual turnover of roughly EUR 120 million and a net profit of EUR 3 million last year, its success is obvious.

Over the last 10 years, most of the plant’s production has gone to Ineos’ factory in Zwijndrecht, so it’s no surprise that the UK-based chemicals giant now aspires to full control.
