IMEC joins logistics research

The Flanders Institute of Logistics and the Leuven-based research center IMEC are to work together on logistics-related projects with RF-tags the first focus, the two organizations have announced.

RF-tags (Radio Frequency Tags) enable goods to be tracked by means of radio signals and the project is aimed at delivering solutions to the logistics sector in Flanders.

The logistics institute was established a year ago by the Flemish Government and the industry and is tasked with carrying out research projects as well as delivering information and knowledge to the sector.

IMEC is a world-renowned research center focused on nano-electronics and nano-technology. It has more than 1,300 personnel and has produced a number of well-known spin-off companies in recent years.
