Flanders has the most livable cities in Belgium

According to a recent study conducted by consumer organization Test-Aankoop, Bruges in Flanders is the most pleasant city to live in in Belgium. The rest of the cities in the top five – Hasselt, Leuven, Genk and Gent – are located in Flanders as well.

Respondents had to assess eleven factors that influence life in the city. Housing came out most important, followed by safety, mobility, employment and healthcare. Education was deemed the least important. The study shows that people living in Flanders are generally more satisfied with their place of residence.
The first Walloon city in the ranking is Marche-en-Famenne, in sixth position, followed by Kortrijk (Flanders) and Mechelen (Flanders). Waver and Eigenbrakel (Wallonia) complete the top ten. Antwerp (Flanders) is just outside the top ten. Aalst and Vilvoorde are in 14th and 15th position respectively. Brussels ranks 18th. Charleroi (Wallonia) is the least livable city in Belgium.
