After 50 years of close cooperation, the Van Assche family has sold its company to German partner Winterhalter. For more than three generations, the family business was one of the main Belgian distributors of professional dishwashers produced by Winterhalter and Classeq and the turbo ovens made by Menumaster. “We are confident that the new owner will guarantee stability and opportunity for our personnel," says Wim Van Assche, CEO of Eliona.

Eliona, supplier of pro dishwashers, bought by Winterhalter
Winterhalter is a household name in the worldwide catering industry. The group produces high-quality dishwashing systems for restaurants, cafes, hotels, butchers, bakers, hospitals, schools and company canteens. In Belgium alone, thousands of Winterhalter appliances are estimated to be used daily. In 2019, the company’s annual turnover amounted to EUR 320 million.
“Despite the catering industry being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the sale attracted several interested parties,” according to Joseph Baert of Level Next, who supervised the acquisition. “This highlights the value of Eliona’s loyal customer base, reliable service and specialized technical team, all important assets in the closure of the deal.” It’s not clear how much Winterhalter has paid for the buyout.
