Economic confidence on the increase throughout Belgium

Nowhere else in the European Union did confidence in the economy increase as sharply during the month of March as in Belgium. This is the finding of a survey conducted by the European statistical office, Eurostat. Confidence is rising throughout the EU.

Eurostat has two indicators for measuring confidence: one for general confidence in the economy, and one that gauges the mood of the business community. Both indicators have been on the upturn again since the end of last year, and have now nearly returned to their pre-11 September level.

In March, the increase in confidence was at its most dramatic in Belgium. This is primarily due to confidence in the industrial sector and consumer confidence, which among other things affects expectations in the retail sector.
