Online stores are now increasingly opening physical stores, as people want to try out a product before buying it. Bastiaan Hagenouw, manager of Fietsenwinkel.nl: “We started selling bikes online in 2012. After opening physical stores in the Netherlands last year, sales went through the roof. We realize now that our presence on the streets is necessary to continuing our growth. That’s why we are setting up physical shops all over Flanders.”

Dutch bike shop explores Flanders’ cycling region
Fietsenwinkel.nl, a Dutch online bicycle shop, is opening six physical stores in Flanders. The region is world-famous for its cycling industry and cultural heritage.
The landscape, with its challenging climbs and cobbles, makes Flanders an attractive region for cyclists.
The region’s business and knowledge ecosystem is also unparalleled in Europe: tax incentives and specific education programs in the biking industry confirm Flanders’ deep-rooted love for cycling. And with Flanders’ Bike Valley, innovation is permanently on the agenda. On top of that, Flanders’ central position and efficient logistics infrastructure facilitates smooth distribution.
