The factory in Westerlo, which employs approximately 2,800 people, produces cabins and axles for DAF's medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
The factory halls of both the Body department (assembling truck cabins) and the Trimming department (installing upholstery and finishing cabins) will be expanded considerably. “These new factory halls will enable DAF to grow further, both in Europe and beyond,” Wolters stated. Additionally, the investment provides job security for the next 20 years.
In total, the expansion will almost double the surface area of the site, adding 33,000 square meters. The production line will be equipped with 130 high-tech robots and 135 fully automatic welding guns.
