Founded in 2017, ZhenGe is a fast-growing pharma player with offices in Shanghai (China) and Maryland (US). Employing around 600 people, the Chinese-American company has built vast expertise in biologics – such as monoclonal and biospecific antibodies – that play a role in the treatment of various diseases.
To set up a base at the Diepenbeek Health Campus in Flanders, ZhenGe is initially investing EUR 1 million. The company’s arrival happens shortly after that of Amador Bioscience, which announced it would join the Health Campus in 2021.
This location at the heart of the European market provides access to all major economies and a highly skilled, language-savvy workforce. Meanwhile, the presence of our global partner Amador Bioscience is also an important driver. Expanding into the European market provides a lot of growth potential for our company.
The new ZhenGe base in Diepenbeek is expected to be up and running around the turn of 2022-23. The investment agreement was signed at the BIO International Convention in San Diego (US) in June 2022. This happened in the presence of a delegation from Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) and sector federation flanders.bio, among others.

Thanks to the presence of a major player like Amador Biosciences and the solid reputation of Hasselt University in the fields of biostatistics and biomedical sciences, ZhenGe is already the fifth promising company to confirm its arrival at our still young Health Campus.
Vandeput also seized the opportunity to announce the upcoming expansion of the Health Campus. For starters, in 2023, the BioVille incubator will be expanded by 2,000 square meters. What’s more, by 2024, the Health Campus will be able to offer an additional 15,000 square meters of business space for life sciences players.
