The new, next-generation filler is significantly more efficient than its predecessor. In terms of resource use, major steps forward have been taken, as the filler uses 12 times less water. Per week, the brewery will now save the equivalent of about 7 swimming pools of water.
"As a result of the investments, production volumes are significantly higher, while water consumption is significantly lower,” says Annick Vincenty, CEO of Alken-Maes. "This was a conscious choice to reduce our ecological footprint. In 2018, we joined ‘Green Deal Brouwers’, an initiative of the government of Flanders. Through our participation, we have committed to using water more efficiently.”
There are 156 taps connected to the installation in Alken that fill bottles with popular beers such as Maes, Hapkin and Grimbergen.
