Breakthrough takeover by 7C Solarparken (DE) in Flanders

7C Solarparken strikes again in Flanders. The German specialist in solar energy took over the Ghent branch of project developer Enervest. The acquisition aligns with the ambition of 7C Solarparken to become the largest player in solar energy in Belgium and Flanders as a region. “The acquisition is a first step in growing our portfolio in the region,” says Steven De Proost, CEO of 7C Solarparken AG.

Solar pioneers with great potential

As part of its strategic plan to build up its activities in Flanders, 7C Solarparken negotiated a deal with German wind operator Enervest AG to acquire its Ghent subsidiary. This regional branch has made quite a name for itself in the renewable energy sector since 2008, particularly in the design and development of photovoltaic parks. It develops 10 MW worth of solar energy installations every year. What’s more, the company has some interesting projects in the pipeline that will guarantee its growth in the upcoming months.

Some well-known projects in Flanders are the solar panels installed at Pfizer Puurs, where the COVID-19 vaccine is produced, and those of transport company Remitrans in Ninove and Swedish bakery group Lantmännen Unibake in Londerzeel, all great ambassadors for the region’s expertise and commercial assets.

Bright in innovation

Through the acquisition, 7C Solarparken plans to accelerate its breakthrough in Flanders. Why the German company chose this region to secure its expansion plans is quite clear:

Flanders is innovative to the core. The local Enervest branch has an innovation department that searches new destinations for existing installations and offers solutions for e-mobility.

Second home in Flanders

Thanks to local projects back home, 7C Solarparken now has a portfolio totaling 256 MW in capacity. This makes it one of the ten largest listed solar energy players in Germany, the largest market for solar energy in Europe. The objective is to make Flanders its second home market. Through the acquisition of Enervest Belgium, the company now has the Ghent team at its disposal to help realize its ambitions.
