Black & Decker invests EUR 29.75 million in a Central European Distribution Center
Black & Decker is the world largest producer of consumer and professional power tools, garden products and accessories. It has embarked on a supply chain restructuring process in Europe. This includes establishing a Central European Distribution Center (CEDC).
Black & Decker has decided to collaborate with TNT as the preferred partner for the design, realisation, commissioning and operation of the CEDC.
Black & Decker and TNT have selected the industrial zone at Tongeren-Oost in Flanders as the location for the CEDC. This center will handle goods destined for markets in Europa, including Eastern Europe.
The building will be an automated high bay warehouse for pallet storage with an adjecent conventional warehouse facility for order picking and packing, in- and outgoing goods and offices. The CEDC will be operational in the year 2000. The total number of employees is projected at around 100 people.
