Belgium third cheapest country for broadband

Broadband Internet connections in Belgium are the world’s third cheapest and the country is ranked sixth in the world for broadband connections per 100 inhabitants, according to a new report from the United Nations’ International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

The study showed that in Belgium, a country of less than 11 million people, there were 1.06 million broadband connections at the end of June this year compared with some 700,000 dial-up connections.

The ITU calculated broadband price on the basis of 100 kilobits per second and portion of average monthly income, corrected by life expectancy. Belgium was rated at 0.05% with only Japan and South Korea cheaper.
