Belgium second in ILO productivity ranking

Belgium has one of the highest per worker productivity rankings in the world, according to the annual Key Indicators of the Labor Market study published by the International Labor Organization (ILO).

The USA led the way in output per person employed with an annual figure of $60,728. Belgium was second with $54,338, while France and Ireland achieved over the $52,000 mark. Germany booked $42,463. The US lead was attributed to more hours worked in a year plus a gap in production and diffusion of ICT in an enabling economic environment along with several other factors.

This was reflected in terms of worker output per hour, however. Belgium ($34 an hour) came third on the list with the USA ($32 an hour) in fourth place.
