Alpro (FR) opens warehouse & innovation center in Flanders

In Wevelgem (Flanders), Alpro has recently inaugurated a brand-new automated warehouse as well as a new innovation center. In opening both facilities, the soy-based food and drink producer – which is part of the French Danone group – aims to capitalize on the growing demand for plant-based nutritional products.

Alpro opens the new innovation center in Wevelgem to respond to growing demand for plant-based food products.

Testing, testing!

The innovation center will include, among other things, a test kitchen, a test facility and a research laboratory. “We also want to collaborate more closely with local universities,” says Sven Lamote, general manager of Alpro. “Our innovation center is accessible to students looking to develop, test and produce new food products.”

Serial investor

In the past 5 years, Alpro has funneled no less than EUR 250 million into its Flanders-based facility in Wevelgem. The company is also hiring 33 technical employees and 100 operators to support further growth at the site.
