AlgoNomics awarded 1 million euro government funding

The Belgian bioinformatics company has been awarded €1 million, or roughly $875,000, by the Flemish Institute for Science and Technology, the company said. AlgoNomics, based in Ghent, said the cash will help develop its structural bioinformatics platform, "including further improvements of its target validation and protein analysis technology," as it applies to HIV research

In a reaction AlgoNomics' CEO, Dr. Ignace Lasters, said: "This award from the Flemish governement not only supports the expansion of our research team, but confirms the company's leading technology position in structural bioinformatics, and allows the company to further reinforce its position in the drug discovery market."

AlgoNomics N.V., founded in 1999, is a Belgium-based structural bioinformatics company with a strong focus on improving protein properties and lead discovery.
