AGP eGlass joins Ghent Logistics Campus in Flanders

AGP eGlass, a manufacturer of high-tech automotive glazing solutions and former winner of Flanders Investment & Trade’s Newcomer of the Year Trophy, is becoming part of the Ghent Logistics Campus in Flanders. The Latin American company was looking for additional space to carry out logistics, storage and light manufacturing tasks as part of its EMEA growth strategy. It will now find all of this and more at the Flanders-based logistics campus developed and expanded by Heylen Warehouses.

The vehicles of today and tomorrow

From electrification, connectivity and shared mobility to automation and digitization: AGP eGlass constantly seeks to anticipate and respond to the latest trends in the automotive industry. As such, the company offers high-tech glazing solutions for the vehicles of today and tomorrow. Its offering not only includes smart glass applications for lightweight and impact resistant compositions but also complex shapes of glass with technologies that open a range of opportunities. Think, for instance, of switchable glazing, ambient lighting or photovoltaic applications.

Continued growth

AGP Group chose Ghent (Flanders) as the location for its first-ever European base back in 2019 and added a new global HQ there in 2022. But the company’s story in the region keeps unfolding – and that’s an understatement. To continue its path of growth and accelerate its strategy for the European, Middle Eastern and Asian (EMEA) markets, it needed more space. That’s why AGP eGlass decided to sign up for 70,000 square meters of logistics space at Ghent Logistics Campus.

A brand-new glass processing plant – the third AGP eGlass plant in Flanders – and warehouses will be built on the site, creating at least 500 jobs. The total investment amounts to EUR 80 million, which will be allocated towards storage, distribution, and high-level assembly and production infrastructure, among others. The plant’s activities will focus mainly on the electric car market. Next to that, it’s speculated that the expansion is intended to anticipate and accommodate the rapid rise of ‘smart’ glass applications.

Ghent Logistics Campus almost fully booked

With AGP eGlass as a third and major customer, the 150,000 square meters of available space at the newly built cutting-edge Ghent Logistics Campus is practically fully booked. Planned to be fully operational by the end of 2022, it has already attracted top-quality tenants such as Eltra, Northfreeze and Connect+.

The site is strategically situated at the heart of North Sea Port Ghent – one of Flanders’ high-quality seaports – and provides smooth access to the Netherlands, Germany and France as well as to multimodal hubs for distribution across Europe and beyond.
