The new test facility will have a brewing capacity of 5 hectoliters and totals an investment of just under EUR 1 million. Most of this investment is funded by the government; a quarter of the amount is provided by Brazilian-Belgian brewing company AB InBev.
“However, we’ll also work independently for separate brewing companies,” says Prof. Keven Verstrepen from KU Leuven. “The funds provided by AB InBev are a donation. The company decided to co-finance because it leverages our yeast expertise and because it benefits from the fact that we educate and train highly skilled brewers.”
