Flanders’ multiskilled and multilingual talent
Flanders is situated at a crossroads between three major European cultures: Anglo-Saxon, Latin, and Nordic-Germanic. As a result, most people in Flanders can understand and express themselves in Belgium’s three official languages: French, German and Dutch.
English is spoken fluently as well, and we’ve got the rankings to back this claim:
- The people of Flanders are the 8th-best non-native English speakers in the world, according to Education First’s 2019 English Proficiency Index.
- They also come in at 4th worldwide in the 2017 TOEFL test, the most widely recognized English language assessment.
