Renewable energy sector in Romania expected to bounce back quickly

The renewable energy sector in Romania is expected to bounce back quickly despite the global slowdown caused by COVID-19, as the long-term drivers for investment remain strong, mentions zf.romania according to the EY Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index. Companies will need to make a positive contribution to society, therefore they will have to re-evaluate their corporate strategies to curb their emissions, enhance their governance, and improve their climate-related disclosures. As a result the institutional investors are increasing the capital they are allocating to renewable energy infrastructure.

Romania can benefit from the support of European institutions for defining the necessary mechanisms to relaunch investments in renewables.

Romania ranks tenth in the European Union by the share of renewable energy in the total energy consumption, with renewable energy covering 23.8% of the country's total energy consumption in 2018.
