EBRD, EU and EIB modernise the rail transport in Moldova by helping the country's National Railways to invest in twelve new locomotives.
The new locomotives will ensure better and safer transport, will carry much larger loads and will use less energy.
According to the EBRD press realease, the new locomotives are part of a wider initiative to modernize the railways, which includes a more efficient and commercial way of separating passenger and freight operations, improving procurement procedures and introducing a new energy management system.
The improvements are welcome by the local businesses. A modernized freight railway will benefit customers in terms of delivery time, reliability and cost.
Modernizing Moldova's railway services will also contribute to the country's economic growth.
