FlowersExpo (11-13.09.2018) is the major showcase of the world flower industry of Russia. This professional forum is an effective business platform for dialogue and fruitful contacts between producers and consumers of this sector products. The largest local and international producers, breeders, operators of the Russian and international flower markets are usually participating in FlowersExpo Exhibition.

Cut and potted flowers, seeds and nursery planting stock, equipment and technological developments for greenhouse sector and garden centers, breeding novelties, products for floristics and landscape design, modern internet technology and logistics services.

Current situation on the Russian flowers market, the import volume from Belgium to Russia and exhibition highlights:

According to Discovery Research Group in 2017 in Russian, the market volume of fresh cut flowers amounted to 1,66 bln. pieces, an increase of 46% compared with 2016. In 2017, this market demonstrated a significant growth.

In 2017, the import volume of fresh-cut flowers to Russia amounted to 1,36 bln. pieces, a growth of 54% compared with 2016, but in terms of value, the import volume which amounted to 326,8 mln.US doll., demonstrated a drop of 9% compared to 2016.

In 2017, the import volume to Russia from Belgium of the product group 'Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots; cut flowers and ornamental foliage' amounted to 7.2 mln. US doll. with a total weight of 929 tons, an increase of 14,2% compared with 2016, when it amounted to 6,3 mln.US doll.

The share in Belgium import to Russia of 'Cut flowers and flower buds fresh, dried, dyed, bleached' products totaled 89%, and 9% is related to the category 'Other live plants, cuttings and slips; mushroom spawn'.

In the structure of imports by country (goods from the group 'Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots and the like; cut flowers and ornamental foliage'), the first place is occupied by Ecuador (21%), followed by the Netherlands (15%). Belgium for Russia is a partner number 15 with a share of 2.2% in terms of value.

De beurs zelf is vrij groot met verschillende indrukwekkende landenpaviljoenen uit Duitsland, Ecuador, Nederland en andere landen. De Vlaamse exposanten vallen niet op tussen de landenpaviljoenen maar dat wordt door de exposanten zelf niet als een nadeel ervaren.

In 2017 namen 400 firma’s uit 27 landen deel, er werden ongeveer 17.000 bezoekers uit 200 Russische steden en 45 landen geteld. In 2018 waren dit al 430 firma’s uit 30 landen. Conclusie: de beurs groeit dus nog steeds!

Er werd ook een 'florist cup 2018' georganiseerd voor de meest kwalitatieve en originele composities.

Kortom het is een internationale beurs van hoog niveau die al jaren een vast publiek van exposanten aantrekt. Er kan met de VLAM gekeken worden of er een gespecialiseerde missie op Rusland kan georganiseerd worden, misschien in het kader van FlowersExpo.
