Economic Flanders goes into high gear with new branding toolkit

Today Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) hosted the Flanders International Economic Summit ‘Embracing new stories’. In the presence of the Minister-President of the Government of Flanders and European Commissioner for Trade, Cecilia Malmström, a new branding toolkit was launched centered around 5 economic areas.

CEO of Flanders Investment & Trade, Claire Tillekaerts: “Export and foreign direct investment figures are booming in. Flanders is part of the world’s most globalized economy, but we need to find ways to exploit our assets and potential even further. Our ambition is to be top of mind in international trade, not second or third.”

Together with stakeholders, partners and companies, FIT co-created a new branding toolkit centered around 5 economic areas: Life Sciences & Health; Food; Solution Driven Engineering & Technology; Smart Logistics and Sustainable resources and Materials & Chemistry. These tools will make Flanders recognizable across borders, highlight our solution-oriented approach and help international entrepreneurs expand their business.

Strong alliances for a stronger international positioning

During the Flanders International Economic Summit the export- and investment promotion agency FIT presented a mid-term evaluation of the internationalization strategy ‘Flanders accelerates! 2017-2021’. More results of combined efforts were presented during the Flanders International Economic Summit:

  • Flanders Investment & Trade created strong alliances with 17 strategic partners that propel economic Flanders in an international playing field.
  • Flanders Investment & Trade launched a one-stop digital agenda (www.veroverdewereld.be) where our own international entrepreneurs can find dozens of events to enhance their potential, from business trips to matchmaking events to training sessions.
  • Flanders Investment & Trade adapted its action program and way of working to better suit the needs of technology-driven start-ups and scale-ups. Strong ties with VLAIO, incubators and accelerators have proven to be successful.
  • With an intensified focus on big data and artificial intelligence, the agency has improved – and continues improving – our services.

The implementation of the internationalization strategy is partly financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Commission.
